How JeePredictor works

JeePredictor combines published NTA result statistics with historical JoSAA seat-allocation data to help aspirants estimate ranks and explore realistic college options. Outputs are indicative, not official ranks or allotments — always confirm on NTA and JoSAA portals.

NTA result dataset

Rank predictors are calibrated against published NTA result statistics from recent years (2020–2024), covering millions of candidate outcomes. We map raw scores to percentile distributions using regression on those official curves, then translate percentiles into estimated All India Rank (AIR) where the exam pattern allows.

Multi-session normalization

JEE Main runs in multiple shifts with different paper difficulty, so raw marks are not comparable across sessions. Our tools apply the standard NTA percentile definition:

Percentile = (100 × candidates with score ≤ yours) ÷ total candidates in session

Session percentiles are combined the way NTA describes for the relevant year before rank estimates are shown.

JoSAA opening and closing ranks

College and branch suggestions index historical opening and closing ranks from JoSAA counselling — IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and related institutes across counselling rounds. Your estimated rank is compared to past cutoffs for the branch, category, and quota you select.

We group matches into three bands:

• Safe: Your rank is comfortably below the historical closing rank (within the top ~80% of that cutoff). Strong chance if trends hold.
• Moderate: Your rank sits near the historical closing rank. Viable depending on round, float, and choice order.
• Reach: Your rank is above the typical closing rank but within a extended window (~120%). Possible in later rounds or special rounds — not guaranteed.

Category and seat quotas

Cutoffs are filtered by counselling category (OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, PwD where applicable) and by seat type such as Home State (HS) versus Other State (OS) for NITs. Using the wrong category or quota will skew results; pick the same labels you use on the official counselling form.

Privacy and where calculations run

Core predictors do not require an account. For many tools, your marks and inputs are processed in the browser and are not sent to our servers to compute the result. We do not sell student data. See our privacy policy for analytics and cookies.

Limits and updates

Cutoffs shift every year with paper difficulty, seat matrix changes, and applicant behaviour. We refresh datasets when new NTA sessions and JoSAA rounds are published. If you spot a wrong cutoff, tell us via contact with year, round, institute, branch, and category.
